How to Retain Your Subscribers
Direct email is one of the hottest ways to market your product or service. It is fairly common, and the customer knows what it means to make contact with you through your website form. They are, more often than not, subscribed to your list because they showed interest in what you had to say.
Once you have your list rolling, the focus automatically drifts toward gaining new subscribers. But what about the old ones? Do you forget them or retain them? You want your subscribers to be loyal huggers of your brand, but how?
How to Retain Old Subscribers
Here are three simple ways to retain old subscribers who go on to become loyal customers of your brand.
1. Keep it simple: Make sure your copy on the subscribe page is simple to understand and follow. Once they register, send a "welcome email" outlining what to expect from you in the coming days. If it is going to be regular business tips, say so. If it is newsletters with occasional discount coupons, tell them.
2. Do as you say: Once your subscribers receive the welcome email, they will expect you to stick to what you said. If you promised to send a bi-weekly newsletter, make sure you do so. If you promised to send them marketing news every day, have a fresh email ready to be seated in their inbox each morning. Allow your subscribers to trust you -- a relationship is built on trust.
3. Don't overdo: This is the opposite of what was said in the earlier point. To build trust, you not only do what you promised, but also not do what you didn't. In short, don't throw surprises all too often. Send them relevant information and in acceptable amounts. Don't overwhelm your subscribers because too much will lose the value. If subscriber A opted only for tips, don't test newsletters on them.
Here you go, three simple ways to get you started on the path of retaining your subscribers, and converting them into customers.
